Autreat is an annual retreat/conference organized by Autism Network International (ANI), and run by and for Autistic people. Autreat aims to provide opportunities, but not pressure, for social interactions. Presentations and sessions at Autreat may be about building Autistic community, developing strategies for coping with a world not build around the needs of autistic people, autism politics and policy, or other topics of interest to Autistic communities. Presentations at Autreat do not emphasize “cure,” treatment, making autistics indistinguishable from neurotypicals, or making autistics more “normal.”
